Many sports and leisure activities can be practiced in the region in summer, winter and in between seasons.
At the foot of the village of Champéry is an emblematic red and white cable car that takes you in less than 5 minutes to Planachaux at an altitude of 2,000m and opens the doors to the Portes du Soleil domain. On foot, on skis or on mountain bikes, the quest for wide open spaces is yours!
Located in the heart of the village, the multifunctional complex of the Palladium shelters a large choice of sports and leisure infrastructures adapted for the elite as well as for the occasional sportsmen or families. It is thus possible to lounge on a pleasant lawn by the outdoor swimming pool, try your hand at curling, take your first steps on the ice or practice pirouettes on the skating rink. Hikers and trail enthusiasts will enjoy the Dents du Midi tour, with three or four one-day stages, following the 40 km itinerary away from roads and built-up areas.
In summer, the Barme high plateau is also an ideal place for a mountain walk. Starting from the Grand-Paradis located a few kilometers from Champéry, this excursion is ideal for family outings, forest walks or mushroom picking. Once arrived, the plain located at 1'500 m of altitude is bounded on one side by the Dents Blanches and on the other by the Berroi ridge. The place, as majestic as it is, has kept a traditional and natural face.
During the summer months, the people of Champéry celebrate their traditions and crafts through numerous local festivals organized during the summer months offering an opportunity to discover old traditions such as the folk dances of the village group. Culture lovers can also participate in the various festivals that take place in Champéry during the summer such as the Rencontres Musicales de Champéry and the Maxi Rires Festival.
The cable car of Champéry-Planachaux or the detachable 6-seater chairlift of Grand-Paradis take skiers and snowboarders to the ski area of Champéry - Les Crosets which has 50 km of slopes and 17 lifts. The latter is connected to the "Portes du Soleil" ski area, the largest international linked ski area in the world, which has 12 ski areas, 4 in Switzerland and 8 in France, with more than 650 km of runs.
In short: Altitude of the highest lift: 2250 m; Downhill slopes: up to 1'050 m; Number of lifts: 194; 650 km of ski runs; Shuttle service: Yes
Les Crosets is famous for its snowpark which is popular with local and international freestylers. The most hardened riders also like to tackle the Pas de Chavanette run, called "Le Mur Suisse", one of the steepest in the world. Only 1 km long, the descent has a difference in altitude of almost 400 m with a gradient of up to 50 degrees. Every year, this run hosts the Derby de Chavanette ski race on the "Mur Suisse".
Around the village of Champéry, adventure lovers can try ice climbing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing at Grand-Paradis or try paragliding in winter at the top of the Crosets chair lift.
The resort of Champéry also benefits in winter from an indoor skating rink open all year round as well as a curling hall, both located at the Palladium of Champéry.
